Relic was the first novel in the Aloysius Pendergast series of novels by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. And yet they completely omitted his character from this film. It was made in the 90s and has withstood the test of time. It's a creature feature if you didn't already know. Set in the National History Museum of Chicago, an evolutionary biologist tries to help a local homicide detective investigate the mutilated murders of several men who arrived on a ship. A tunnel leads from that ship directly under the city and up into the lower bowels of the Natural History Museum where a creature is devouring hormones from the human hypothalamus and is getting bigger and even more dangerous. I loved it. I have a copy I liked it so much. Read the novel too. It's probably the best in the entire series. The second best would be the fourth novel, Cabinet of Curiosities.
