I put off reading this book for a long time because the summaries suggest that it's the same story all over again (as Ender's Game) but from a different character's perspective. That's really only true for the last third of the book though. The first two thirds or so describe Bean's back history in Rotterdam and how he got to Battle School. Generally speaking, a good read. It seems expected that the reader has already read Ender's Game so this book doesn't even try to keep the twist a secret. I'm not sure whether or not it was expected that the reader had read the future Bean books. I had, and I found this one to flow nicely into them. As in Ender's Game, Card's children speak and think far more maturely than their age would suggest reasonable (even for such gifted kids). Once you get past that, the series is great.
