As adaptations go, this movie is pretty spot-on, and absolutely deserving of its many Academy Awards.

The writer Thomas Harris is in my humble opinion an amazing writer(much like Truman Capote) and his adaptations to the movie screen are truly Freakishly scary and makes one want to keep reading watching and edge of your seat horror! Stephen King and he must compare notes as the horror aspect-spine tingling cover your eyes and don't sleep for days afterwards! Best kind of way to be scared -in a movie theater or read a great novel or listening to one! :)

Story, pacing and acting are all top notch. Avoid the squeals and prequels.

This classic drama/crime film tells the story of an incredible student at the FBI training academy. Clarice, the student, is wanted to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who is a psychotic murderous cannibal that worked as a psychiatrist for many years (as ironic as that is). Since Clarice is a very attractive woman, the FBI believes that she will be able to uncover very important information about a case from Dr. Lecter. This slightly frightening yet interesting film is right up my alley since I enjoy stories about serial killers and murderers. With that said, I would rate this movie 4.5/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

FBI agent Clarice Starling must seek help from a serial killer to catch another homicidal maniac who skins his prey. A lot like the movie 'Se7en', it truly is a thrill ride and creates the infamous character Hannibal Lector. The superb acting, it was great for a movie made in the early 90s.

Silence of the Lambs truly deserves all the praise it gets and more. It has an excellent attention to detail that you don't see too often. Also it has memorable and interesting characters, including one of the most thought provoking horror characters ever, Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Anthony Hopkins does a top notch performance of the manipulative psychiatrist who's mere existence blurs the lines between intellect and savagery.

What can be said that hasn't been already? Though this movie often gets labeled a "psychological thriller" to reconcile its Oscar wins, this is as true a horror film as you can watch--it's truly, genuinely horrifying. The grotesque artistry these serial killers display is undeniably unsettling, but the emphasis on close-up shots, on facial recognition of the terror at hand, gives the proceedings a very personal sense of terror. You'll come watch for Anthony Hopkins' legendary turn as one of cinema's most iconic, imitated villains, but you'll stay for Jodie Foster's underappreciated work as Clarice--this is the sort of sensitive but steely, energetic but nuanced movie-star performance you only hear about in fairy tales.

This is a 1991 American horror-thriller directed by Jonathan Demme, adapted by Ted Tally from the 1988 novel of the same name by Thomas Harris.
It shows the character of Dr. Hannibal Lecter---a brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer.
A young U.S. FBI trainee (Jodie Foster) seeks the advice of the imprisoned Dr. Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) to apprehend another serial killer, known only as "Buffalo Bill".
It is a thrilling, terrifying and entertaining piece depicted between psychological study and all-out horror.

A taut thriller, 'Silence of the Lambs' is one of the most gripping cinematic experiences out there. With the help of a devilishly good performance from Hopkins, a kinetic pace, and a potent script, 'Lambs' has easily crafted its place in cinematic history.
