Underlying Saamis Children's Centre's goals of helping children and their families is a set of basic premises that our staff believes to be true of all children. Specifically, we believe that: 1) The children in our care have rights as individuals and deserve the respect and consideration of staff and peers alike. 2) These children have the capacity to achieve their full potential, given the personal support, attention and opportunity to do so. 3) Given a positive environment, which promotes self-worth through security, understanding and acceptance, the child will normally choose to grow and act in a responsible manner. 4) The Centre has a responsibility to each child's family and the community in which she or he lives to carry out this mandate to the highest possible standard.
