An old favorite as you've never seen it before!

Everyone knows the song about the old lady who swallowed a fly, a spider, a bird, and even worse, but who's ever seen what's going on inside the old lady's stomach? With this inventive die-cut artwork, Simms Tabak gives us a rollicking, eye-popping version of the well-loved poem.

I love Simms Taback! He stays true to the traditional song in which there is talk of her dying. The books is perhaps not for the squeamish, fearful, or gentler folks among us, but Taback handles it artfully and humorously with added rhyming text throughout that questions the woman's choices and with a clear moral at the end. Of course, the moral of the story is: Don't eat a horse!

I love the holes in the picture showing each animal in her stomach!

Very cute illustrations accompany this familiar childhood song. The best part though are the side comments made by the animals the old lady has swallowed.
