As a stand alone drama, I am so sure how to rate this . But it definitely feels like a break from all other overdramatic dramas out there. The characters are unique on their own way . There are also some beautiful scenery. It is long , but…

Wow! An absolutely gripping, moving, beautiful movie. Lots of adventure. Kind of like an updated Huckleberry Finn for grown ups. A must see!

Excellent movie written and superbly directed by Jeff Nichols. I love the friendship between the two boys in the film - great acting. Matthew McConaughey is one of the best in every role he plays.

A very well-played drama on how one young boy in particular plays out the crumbling marriage of his parents. It also is a great study on how men and women express evil in different ways.

Normally, I would explain--in some detail--about what I liked and disliked in a film that I watched. I can't do it here because I liked "Mud" without reservation--liked everything from its screenplay to its cinematography, from its…

Matthew M. is not an intriguing actor. The two young actors were the highlight of a very slow, plotless movie.Reese Witherspoon talents were extremely wasted sitting in a hotel room and shopping in a Piggly Wiggly. Not enough explanation of…

This was a surprisingly good movie. Not slow spot in it anywhere. Well acted. Novel story line.

I highly recommend Mud, especially for fans of independent films since it is very slow moving. For me, the best parts are its cinematography, setting and young actors' performances. The music by Ben Nichols, guitarist/lead singer of Lucero…

Not a fabulous movie but interesting. The young boys playing the leads were great and Mathew McConnaughy was OK but it was a strange story.

This disc is scratched and would not play on our DVD. We did not realize it was only a 7 day checkout so now the library is charging us several dollars in late fee. Do not use this library, major rip-off. Library customer service did not…

Intriguing film! The acting was very captivating both actors that played Neckbone and Ellis were very convincing in their relationship as best friends. Matthew McConaughey playing mud was also very interesting as he portrayed this young…

Sticking to the southern roots which gave his previous films "Shotgun Stories" and "Take Shelter" their idiosyncratic appeal, writer/director Jeff Nichols here enters into full-on Mark Twain territory with long summer days unfolding by a…

one of the better movies that DIDN'T make it to theatres (in Canada as far as I know) . the young actors were natural. perhaps why so many found it a plodding story is one must realize the story covers a timeline of at least a few weeks…

I couldn't finish this movie. I found the pace slow. I did not like the sense of foreboding and violence. MM was dirty, living out on the island, yet his shirt was always clean. Go figure.

I am not a big fan of McConaughey's, but I will give credit where credit is due. He was perfectly suited for this role, and he and his two young cohorts and their tree/house/boat delivered this gritty and unusual coming of age/love story…

Interesting fast paced adventure about young people growing up, and some adults that do not. It would have been even better if they had more wildlife (such as gators) in the film's nature scenes.

the boys were def the best part of this movie, they were just great little actors. I liked the story and Matthew is always good (even though he tends to play the southern boys well and can always take his shirt off!) lol
